Join Our Team as Head of Experience

We are very happy to be recruiting again.

Wild Ken Hill is much more than the beautiful and diverse landscape – there are exciting things happening here too. Stories tend to focus on the nature that seems to keep coming back, whether that’s the beavers which were reintroduced here in 2020 or the four pairs of spoonbill that bred on the marsh this year.

The human side of what we are doing is equally important to us though. In the last few months, for example, we’ve welcomed multiple charities and soil science students from around the world to Wild Ken Hill, hosted community workshops in our local village, and led our regular programme of guided tours and onsite forest school. Our team has grown, we have a wonderful group of volunteers, and generally Wild Ken Hill feels a busy, vibrant place.

Hence, the happiness; recruitment is a sign that our project continues to grow and evolve, and we’re already looking forward to having another great person on the team.

This role is an incredibly important one for us – the Head of Experience. The role will assume a leadership position at a pivotal moment in our journey. They will help to define, deliver, and – most importantly – operate our emerging nature-based tourism offering for visitors. Planning permissions obtained in 2023 provide a long runway of new offerings and experiences that are ready to deliver and offer the opportunity for growth in the role – camping, glamping, touring, walking, cycling, play, retail, F&B and more.

These offerings and experiences are intrinsically connected to our land management work and will play a critical role in the Wild Ken Hill project. Engaging those around us not only is the best way for us to create change beyond our boundary, but also – particularly in the case of our local communities – can create genuine benefits in their lives.

They will also provide long-term financial security for our pioneering work to restore nature, which has hitherto been primarily funded by government through agri-environment schemes. This is therefore a role which combines the best aspects of private sector working – dynamism, flexibility, entrepreneurialism – with a genuine opportunity to create both environmental and social impact.

The Head of Experience will join a strong team with a supportive and collaborative culture where individuals are empowered to do their best work in strength-based roles. Alongside taking P&L responsibility for the growth in nature tourism and engagement, the role will provide commercial oversight on aspects of our existing operations. The Head of Experience can count on strong functional support from existing team members and will report directly to and work closely with our founder, Dominic Buscall (Dom likes to think this is a good thing!).

If you like the sound of working with a fantastic team in a beautiful setting and delivering values-led growth to lead a pioneering project through the next phase of its journey, then this role is for you. Take a look at the application pack – we look forward to hearing from you.
