The Team

Dom is the Founder and Director of Wild Ken Hill, and makes sure all aspects of the project align behind a clear mission – to restore nature, fight climate change and grow nutritious food. Dom also leads Wild Ken Hill’s external engagements, speaking at events, to journalists and working with partner organisations to explore and develop new approaches to nature restoration. Dom is currently serving as a Board Member at the British Trust for Ornithology (BTO), Wilder Carbon, and The CLA.

I’ve worked in outdoor education for many years and now run educational visits for schools and groups at Wild Ken Hill as well as WILDlings Forest School and adventure parties. I enjoy providing hands-on learning, exploring the countryside and showing the children about the food we grow and about the wildlife, their habitats and the important roles they play. I believe children should be given the freedom to explore, play and be creative in a natural setting to help them understand and appreciate themselves and world around them.

"I feel extremely fortunate to have been involved in Wild Ken Hill since its inception and to have helped with its implementation, including the return of the beavers in Spring 2020. My motivation is not just to conserve but to help restore ecosystems and soil health by maximising natural processes and allowing nature to thrive, thereby reversing the declines in biodiversity I have witnessed during my lifetime. I believe that the reintroduction of missing native species, where appropriate, can greatly assist in this process."

Kathryn is interested in the intersection of the natural world with the arts, from writing to theatre and performance. Being involved with Wild Ken Hill is a great way to explore ways in which space, in particular landscape, can enhance performance. As the project grows, I hope to develop ways in which Wild Ken Hill might host site-specific performance and cultural activity.
