Easter Tours 2026

The Experience
Wild Ken Hill is a pioneering nature restoration project driven by a community of people with a clear mission – to challenge norms and show what’s possible when we work with nature, not against it.
Discounted Tickets for Local Residents this Easter
We’ve reserved a number of our tickets this weekend for local residents at a reduced rate. That’s because it’s particularly special: It’s the first time our tours will be delivered by well-known local naturalist Gary Hibberd! We’re thrilled to welcome Gary, who joins the team after retiring from an incredible 36 years as Reserve Manager at NWT Holme Dunes.
He’ll be leading our Wildlife Watching, Beaver, and Big Picture tours this year, alongside regular guides Julia, Les, Robin and Ash.
Our awesome experts really bring the site to life, so if you’re keen to see how the rewildling and conservation areas are progressing and what interesting and unusual wildlife can be found in early spring, we hope you can join Gary and Julia this weekend!
Please note: The events this weekend are part of our regular guided tour programme. We will be running our usual free residents’ open day later in the year, which includes a project update and a short walk into the rewilding area.

What to Expect
We want you to come away from our guided tours inspired with possibilities and with a deepened sense of connection with our natural world.
All tours introduce the innovative ways we are restoring nature at Wild Ken Hill. Wildlife Watching tours will focus more on what species can be seen and heard in the landscape, and the Beaver Tour will take guests on an exciting new route through the enclosure – a rare chance to see the work of these incredible landscape architects up-close, in the marvelously tangly wet woodland they have created.
On our Big Picture tour, our expert nature guides will lead you through the full range of activities here at Wild Ken Hill, pointing out any seasonal wildlife in view.
We’ll explore the ground beneath our feet, learning why supporting life within the soil is key to nutritious and sustainable food. Keen gardeners and growers will enjoy seeing first-hand how a farm that focusses on soil health does things differently, from large-scale composting to cover crops.
Moving into rewilding area, you’ll cross paths with our Exmoor ponies, Tamworth pigs or Red Poll cattle and see how their natural behaviour is transforming the landscape. Learn how their tracks and scrapes create new homes for insects and plants, leading to an explosion in the number of species found on site. Our nocturnal Beavers will mostly likely be at rest, but you’ll see evidence of their activity from gnawed stumps to dams and the maze of new ponds that fill the once dry woodland.
Down towards the sweeping vista of The Wash, you’ll discover how this globally important wetland – one of the world’s eight ‘bird superhighways’ – provides a unique and spectacular home for the wading birds of the Norfolk coast. Depending on the time of year, you might see any number of breeding birds like Curlew, Lapwing, Avocet, or seasonal visitors like Pink-footed Geese or Black-tailed Godwits. Our guides will explain how though traditional conservation techniques, we help these charismatic residents thrive.
